Medicare Advantage (MAPD) plans can offer coverage that Original Medicare may not cover to your clients age 65 and older. These additional benefits may include fitness programs, vision, hearing, dental and more! Many MAPD plans are $0 premium, but there are a number of options to choose from for most consumers. AHIP and carrier certifications are required to offer MAPD plans.
Special needs plans (SNP) are a type of MAPD plan designed to meet specific needs of certain consumers. These also offer additional benefits and general fall into 3 categories: Dual Eligible SNP (D-SNP, coordinate Medicare and Medicaid benefits), Chronic Condition SNP (C-SNP, offered to consumers with certain chronic or disabling conditions), and Institutional SNP (I-SNP, designed to meet the needs of consumers living in long-term care settings).
Medicare Supplement or Medigap plans carry a higher premium and help consumers pay their share of out-of-pocket costs that original Medicare doesn’t cover. Most Medicare Supplement Plans have no network which gives your client the ability to see any doctor that takes original Medicare.
Prescription Drug Plans (PDP) are included with most Medicare Advantage Plans, but you’ll need to add a stand alone PDP for your clients that choose a Medicare Supplement Plan. These will help your clients pay for their prescription drug coverage!

Changes in life may open the door for an ACA SEP or a Short Term Medical (STM) Plan. STM plans can offer temporary coverage when your client is in between plans or outside of the open enrollment period.
